So, really, playing Zac Efron's mom is probably a step up at this point. Basinger has signed on to play the mom in The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud, the drama directed by 17 Again director Burr Steers.
And the role might actually be a juicy one for Basinger-- Variety writes that Basinger's character will be grieving for her younger son, while her older son (Efron) works at the graveyard and has regular conversations with his sibling.
