Whether or not Bryan Singer will get to do a second Superman movie remains up in the air. The film is just going to miss making $200 million domestically, and word was that a sequel would only be greenlit if it broke the $200 million mark. Is $190 or $195 million close enough? Nobody on the outside knows and so far nobody on the inside is talking.

That hasn’t stopped rumors from flying about what the Superman Returns follow up will be when and if it actually gets made. Singer has hinted that it’ll feature an alien super villain, and a lot of the speculation around the film has hinted that the bad guy will be Superman II’s General Zod. We don’t know if that’s true or not, but the Zod casting rumors have started anyway.

UK Newspaper Daily Express is claiming that Jude Law is in negotiations to take on the Zod role for Singer. Their source at the WB says, "Zod is going to be the main bad guy in the second film. Some say they should use an unknown but the director Bryan Singer is looking at Jude. The similarities between him and Stamp are clear."

In Superman II, Zod was played by the great bearded Terrence Stamp. As a Stamp replacement, Jude really could work. There’s some similarity there and Jude has the acting chops to pull of the manic intimidation of Zod. I can see it. He’d be a fantastic choice. Still the real question is: Is this movie even happening?
