Kristen Stewart Won't Be Invited Back For Snow White Sequel
They say that sleeping with the director is a great way to get ahead in Hollywood, but apparently that's not working out so well for Kristen Stewart. It's now being reported that Universal Pictures is scrapping their plans to make a sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman and instead will focus on making a movie about The Huntsman, who was played by Chris Hemsworth. It's unknown if Rupert Sanders, the director of the first movie, will be back for the spinoff (there is rumor that he likely will), but apparently David Koepp, who had been hired to write the script, has been settled out of his contract.
According to THR and their inside sources, Stewart "will not be invited to return if the follow-up goes forward." An unnamed spokesperson told the trade, ""The studio is currently exploring options to continue the franchise." The controversy behind this situation began last month when it was reported that Stewart had an affair with Sanders while they were filming Snow White and the Huntsman. Stewart was dating her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson at the time and Sanders is married.
The trade also adds that this doesn't derail the studio's plans entirely. Sources say that the original plan was to have two more movies that would feature the Snow White character and then they would give The Huntsman his own film, much like what 20th Century Fox did with Wolverine. Now they just find themselves moving ahead of schedule. The plan is to start production in July when Hemsworth's schedule clears up and Universal is currently searching for a new writer.
