Sometimes things just work out. You get the primo parking spot at the grocery store, somehow get the DVD back to the rental store before the late fee or get to the last beer in the fridge before your buddies. For Joel Hopkins, a good day is when the actor and actress you had in mind when writing your script actually sign onto the roles, and you get to direct it. Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson will star in Hopkins’ Last Chance Harvey, which starts shooting in London in September, reports Variety.
Harvey’s last chance comes when he finds a suitable female while in London for his daughter’s wedding. Obviously, Hoffman will play the lead, while Thompson plays the love interest. Or, the two will be playing themselves playing the characters that Hopkins had in mind for them. Hopkins is a new director with only one credit under his belt, Jump Tomorrow. Unfortunately, it would take more than that little-seen film to get any excited about this project, except for aging baby boomers who love melodramatic romance.
