MOVIE NEWS
Latest On The 24 Movie![]()
’24’ launched its sixth season Sunday night on Fox, at the expense of ‘Family Guy’ and ‘The Simpsons’. But then he’s Jack Bauer, and I’m told he can do whatever the he wants dammit.
However the thing we’re most interested in isn’t whether or not Jack will save the world for a sixth time, but if that long rumored 24 movie will ever get off the ground. Jack Bauer himself, Kiefer Sutherland spoke to Zap2It about the movie, and he assures them that it’s still happening. Just not quickly. Kiefer says, “The audience has treated the show with such respect, we're certainly not going to betray them by just throwing something out there.” He adds, “It has to be very special, and we're working very hard to try to get that. Whether it's during the hiatus this year or next year, we're eventually going to do it, but it has to have the quality of the show while still being different.” This is the same song and dance he and everyone involved with the show have been delivering since we first heard about the movie. It doesn’t sound like anything has changed, and it doesn’t sound like anything is going to. For now, it sounds like fans are going to have to be happy with just the show. That’s where all their focus is, and it may not be until the series has run it’s course that they’ll really get around to making a movie. The bad thing there is by that time it may be too late. Appropriately ironic for a show that’s all about time management. The great thing is that if they ever do make it, we can be confident that it will be done right. Better no movie at all than a movie rushed and done wrong. |
