Latest Wolverine International Trailer Is Filled With New Footage
It's seems strange to think that back in February we were upset that we still hadn't seen a trailer for James Mangold's The Wolverine, especially given that we've seen so many previews released since then. There was the pair that was released in late March, then came the Japanese trailer with a good dose of new footage, then there was the CinemaCon sizzle reel, and then most recently a brand new theatrical trailer. But none of those went nearly in-depth as this latest clip.
The Wolverine UK YouTube page has launched this brand new international trailer for the superhero film, and while we've seen most of these scenes set up before, this is the first time we've ever gotten some larger context. For example. we've known for a long time that part of this movie's plot would have the titular character trying to decide whether or not to give up his immortality, but did you know that he was being given an offer to transfer it to somebody else? This footage also shows us a lot more of Svetlana Khodchenkova as Viper, which I'm guessing is because they've finally gotten the visual effects to a place where they feel comfortable putting it in advertising. Regardless of the reason, her character design is cool and she seems pretty damn deadly.
Set after the events of X-Men: The Last Stand, The Wolverine finds Logan (Hugh Jackman) toiling in life, crushed by the loss of Jean Grey (Famke Janssen). The story changes, however, when he is given the opportunity to fly to Japan, where he encounters a man he once saved as well as an enemy that could change his entire future. Will Yun Lee, Rila Fukushima, Hiroyuki Sanada and Brian Tee co-star in the movie, which will be in theaters on July 26th.
