There hasn’t been much word on what is going on with Spike Jonez adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are. We told you about some of the voice casting news 18 months ago but haven’t heard a lot since. Well, it looks like things weren’t so great in that wild place, because one of the voice actors has been dumped.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Michelle Williams has been tossed out of the role of the creature KW, in favor of Lauren Ambrose. The report cites a source saying that Williams voice was not right for what they were trying to accomplish. Ambrose, of Six Feet Under fame, may be what they are looking for; hopefully it won’t take them a year and a half to figure it out.

The movie is a mixture of live action, animation, and puppets. There is also going to be people stationed in each theater so it can be presented in smell-o-rama. Not really, but look for this whole shebang in 2008.
