It's frustrating enough that Lauren Conrad, the faux-starlet who became famous thanks to Laguna Beach and The Hills, is a best-selling author thanks to her thinly-veiled account of her own life, the novel L.A. Candy. But it's pretty much infuriating that this book is now becoming a movie.

Just read the description in Variety if you don't believe that Conrad basically wrote down her own life story and had a ghostwriter fill in the authory parts: "L.A. Candy tells the story of a 19-year-old who moves to Hollywood, quickly finds fame as a reality series star and then has to deal with the ramifications of living a fishbowl life."

Conrad apparently plans to write two more book about the main characters, which means that Temple Hill, run by two of the guys who produced Twilight, might have a franchise on their hands. We've been swearing up and down that, in the wake of the Great Recession, no one cares about these rich blond California girls anymore. Apparently we still care, but we'll also still care in 2011 or so, when this movie finally comes out.
