Leatherface Returns In First Trailer For Texas Chainsaw 3D

It started in 1974 with Tobe Hooper's classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. That film spawned a number of sequels, but the whole franchise was rebooted in 2003 with Marcus Nispel's remake. This was followed by a prequel in 2006 titled The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, but once again its reboot time as director John Luessenhop and Lionsgate have come together to bring back Leatherface in Texas Chainsaw 3D. And now the first trailer for the reboot is online.

Check out the preview below and see it in HD over on Apple.

Because the movie isn't out until January, I must say that I'm kind of surprised we're seeing this trailer now. Why not wait until next month when we're all in the spooky, horror movie mood thanks to Halloween? Perhaps they are planning to release a second trailer next month and are using this one to just try and create a little buzz (see what I did there?).

Based on a script by Kirsten Elms, Adam Marcus, Debra Sullivan and Stephen Susco, Texas Chainsaw 3D follows a young woman named Heather Miller (Alexandra Daddario) as she travels down to Texas with a group of her friends to collect a reported inheritance from a dead relative. What she doesn't know, however, is that she is about to have a run in with the psychotic, chainsaw-wielding maniac best known as Leatherface. The film co-stars Scott Eastwood, Tania Raymonde (remember her from Malcolm in the Middle?), Bill Moseley and Dan Yeager. Look for the title in theaters on January 4th and read more about it in our Blend Film Database.
