Legolas To Have A Significant Part In The Hobbit![]()
Orlando Bloom may be the next LOTR cast member to join The Hobbit. Though his character, Legolas, isn’t actually mentioned in The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins and the Dwarves spend a lot of time with his people, the elves of Mirkwood. His father Thranduil is king there, and Bilbo’s dwarven friends spend a lot of time in his dungeon as prisoners. And though the events of The Hobbit happen decades before those in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Legolas is a lot older than he looks.
So it makes sense that the character might show up at some point in The Hobbit, but what doesn’t make a lot of sense is for him to have a significant role. Again, the character isn’t even mentioned at all in the book yet Deadline says that not only is Orlando Bloom likely to be cast in the movie soon, he’ll have a significant role. Weirder still, they still haven’t locked down Ian McKellan and Andy Serkis for the film, even though their characters, Gandalf and Gollum respectively, are not only mentioned in the book but huge, massive, pivotal parts of the story. So far, the only original LOTR cast member confirmed to return is Cate Blanchett as Galadriel. We’ll let you know when and if the others get confirmed. |
