Leighton Meester And Vanilla Ice Added To The Cast Of I Hate You, Dad![]()
When looking at the Timeline of Relevancy, it’s actually kind of hard to remember where Vanilla Ice fits. The guy release a catchy-if-not-stupid rap song in early 1990s that blatantly ripped off the beat from Queen and David Bowie’s “Under Pressure” and his biggest contribution to the film world was a song and cameo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze and a truly awful remake of Rebel Without A Cause called Cool as Ice. So now we are posed with a question: is his role in the upcoming Adam Sandler-Andy Samberg comedy I Hate You, Dad going to make fun of him, or will he be in on the joke?
Variety reports that Ice, as well as Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester have both signed on for roles in the comedy, which is set to be released June 22, 2012. While Ice, real name Robert Van Winkle, will only have a supporting role as a friend of Sandler, Meester will be one of the three major characters. In the story, a father (Sandler) moves in with his son (Samberg) and his soon-to-be daughter-in-law (Meester), but things get out of control when Sandler and Meester can’t get along. As was reported on Saturday, James Caan has also joined the cast and will play Meester’s father. Call me pessimistic, but it’s going to take something major to get me excited about seeing an Adam Sandler comedy again, and Mr. Ice Ice Baby having a part isn’t it. |
