Leonardo DiCaprio Gets In The Zone![]()
We all know the theme song as well as we know the national anthem, even though it went off the air decades ago. We think of it every time a weird coincidence occurs, and particularly when we go to a Florida theme park and get to ride Tower of Terror. Yes, I’m talking about the zone… the twilight zone. It’s been a while since that late-50s TV show was adapted or updated, but now Leonardo DiCaprio has decided he’s just the guy to teach kids these days about the spooky side of life.
The Hollywood Reporter says that DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way and Warner Bros. have been soliciting pitches and scripts for features based on The Twilight Zone, aiming for some top-shelf talent to take the challenge. Warners owns the rights to the episodes of the show written by Rod Serling, which is pretty much all of them, and are hoping to make one feature-length movie based on one or several episodes of the show. Sci-fi is back in vogue on television, thanks to Lost and Heroes and countless similar rip-offs, and it’s almost surprising they haven’t tried to reboot The Twilight Zone for television by now. It would be great to see someone like J.J. Abrams or the other Lost writers, or even Joss Whedon take on the Twilight Zone concept. Sci-fi is having its moment in pop culture, so why not take a stab at rebooting the series that was there at the beginning? |
