Lin Talks Fast And The Furious 4![]()
We’ve known for awhile now that a fourth Fast and the Furious movie is in the works. I guess the third one just wasn’t dumb enough, and someone out there thinks there’s a way to make the franchise even stupider. That should suit fans just fine, since most of them aren’t the brightest themselves. When in a previous report I jokingly compared The Fast and the Furious 4 to Star Trek 4 by claiming the plot would revolve around time travel and the rescue of two humpbacked whales, fans responded by commenting that they were excited to hear that they’d get to see cars towing aquatic creatures in space. Some even suggested ways to turn an Eclipse’s trunk into an aquarium.
Not the brightest bunch. So it really doesn’t matter what they make out of The Fast and the Furious 4, as long as there are cars in it the franchise’s built in audience will show up. Rumored to be directing the fourth film is Justin Lin, the guy who directed The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. CS caught up with Lin and quizzed him about his involvement in a fourth movie, and apparently Lin doesn’t realize that making another one is basically a license to print money because he seems uncertain about whether he’ll do it. He says, “Everyone is scrambling, but if I do it, I'm going to have fun with it. I'm still assessing. I haven't totally signed on anything yet. People have been calling me, and I would do it for the right reason with the right people.” If he does do it, Lin is confident he can make the fourth movie even better, not that it matters. Discussing his first FF attempt he continues, “That was my first action car movie and I feel like I'm better now. I would love to go and flex that muscle if it's appropriate or the right situation. It would take the right people to come on board for me to do it, so we'll see.” So maybe Lin will be back for The Fast and the Furious: The Voyage Home. If he is, they’re going to have a hell of a time fitting those humpbacks in a trunk. They’ll probably just use a hatchback. |
