Lindsay Lohan Mulling Another Frivolous Lawsuit Over Upcoming Comedy![]()
On its own the comedy Dogs in Pocketbooks didn't seem like that much news-- based pretty clearly on the life of Lindsay Lohan, it's a sendup of celebrity culture starring socialite Lydia Hearst and Dynasty legend Joan Collins. If that doesn't sound destined to go straight to DVD, I don't know what does. But now, in the grand tradition of the Lohan family and their frivolous use of the court system, Lindsay is threatening legal action, so now I suppose we have to report on it after all.
According to TMZ-- who else?-- Lohan is "mulling over legal action" against the movie, which is set to start filming February 11. Dina Lohan-- a familiar figure for anyone up to date on the many ridiculous things about Linday's life-- claims that the movie "is definitely based on Lindsay's likeness," which isn't hard to prove since the announcement of the movie itself described the leads as "a role obviously based on Lindsay Lohan." But because parodying the likeness of a public figure isn't slander ora nothing illegal, Dina is falling back on a strategy that already failed for her once, and described the situation as "shadowing E*TRADE." Yes, I'm sorry that we have to keep talking about this, but we've made it this far so we may as well be thorough. The "E*TRADE" Dina refers to is a commercial for the online brokerage firm that featured those ever-present, awful talking babies, one of them making a reference to "that milkaholic Lindsay." Lohan, apparently feeling wronged in some way, filed a lawsuit for $100 million earlier this year, but dropped it in September. I'm not really sure why Dina Lohan wants to compare Dogs in Pocketbooks, since that's a lawsuit they lost, but I'm long past trying to figure out the logic in this crew. Odds are you won't care at all about Dogs in Pocketbooks when it actually comes out, so keep an eye on this lawsuit, almost guaranteed to fail as well, if you need a dose of Lohan-related news for the time being. |
