Lizzy Caplan, Adam Scott And More Cast In The Will Ferrell-Adam McKay-Produced Bachelorette![]()
Next week Universal will release Bridesmaids, a film that achieves what has seemed impossible: crafting a female-driven comedy that hits every adult demographic. Should all go according to plan the film will be a massive success, Adam McKay and Will Ferrell aren't going to wait to find out before starting to make their own similarly-themed version.
THR reports that Bachelorette, a comedy set to be made under McKay and Ferrell's Gary Sanchez Productions banner, has lined up quite an impressive cast including Adam Scott, Lizzy Caplan, Kirsten Dunst, and Casey Wilson. In the film Caplan and Dunst - along with another actress who has not yet been cast - will play best friends who are invited to be bridesmaids for a girl they "called 'Pigface' in high school." Wilson will play the bride who has revenge plans in mind, while Scott will play another fellow classmate who happens to be a former crush of Caplan's (though he has brought a "beautiful and much younger date" to the wedding). Leslye Headland, who wrote the script, will be directing, though the title of the project is expected to change. Does it sound like they are trying to capture a bit of Bridesmaids energy? Sure. Do I care? Absolutely not. It's been way too long since female comedians have had their time in the sun and if this is what it takes, so be it. This is a stepping stone until they are ready to move away from the wedding angle, and that's just fine. |
