Loken Gets Painless![]()
The Sci-Fi channel original series “Painkiller Jane” has announced its headliner: Kristanna Loken, according to Variety.
The series, based on a comic book by Jimmy Palmiotti and Joe Quesada follows Jane Vasco, an agent responsible for hunting down genetically enhanced people, as she discovers she can’t be hurt… actually, she can be hurt; she feels pain but she just can’t be injured. The show follows her as she tries to discover the origin of her powers in a very Wolverine sounding plot, while she also tries to determine what her connection is to the people she hunts professionally. Sci-Fi has already purchased 22 episodes of the series from Insight Film Studios, Starz Media, and Kickstart Comic Arts Studio. Loken will serve as co-producer for the series as well as the star. Gil Grant will executive produce. The press is advertising this as starring Kristanna Loken “the villainous machine in Terminator 3,” but lets not forget her more recent roles, which include Uwe Boll’s BloodRayne. Is a Sci-Fi original series a step up or down from an Uwe Boll film? I guess that depends on the final product. If “Painkiller Jane” ends up being like the channel’s recent “Eureka” then we’re in store for quite a treat. If the show looks more like Loken’s previous Sci-Fi channel mini-series “Dark Kingdom”… well, we probably won’t wind up seeing those 22 episodes until DVD. |
