I knew I was officially too old, when I was completely unable to understand the whole LonelyGirl 15 phenomenon. Usually even if I hate something, I can understand what it is. Like, I get what American Idol is. It’s garbage, but I understand what it is, how it works, and why people insist on being interested in it. But I really didn’t understand the whole LonelyGirl 15 thing, and still don’t.

If like me, you have no idea what LonelyGirl 15 is, then I’m not going to try and explain it. I can’t explain it, I know the name, I don’t understand what it is or why anyone cares about it. It’s just some idiot girl talking to a camera on YouTube. What is that? It’s nothing. But people latched on to it, and even though later they found out she was faking everything (though there really wasn’t anything), no one seemed to mind all that much. Whatever.

So the girl who pretended to be LonelyGirl 15 was actually Jessica Rose. She was 19 when she did it, pretending to be a 15 year-old, presumably as some sort of moneymaking venture, which if I understood it I could probably steal and use to make millions. Since I don’t, I’ll remain poor and keep doing this. Jessica Rose on the other hand, is moving to bigger and better things.

Her 15 minutes as an internet celebrity have earned her a part in a real project, the new Lindsay Lohan movie I Know Who Killed Me. Our friends over at Moviehole have picked up the story from The New Zealand Herald. Apparently the fake Lonely Girl has already shot her scenes, and had nothing but wonderful things to say about Lindsay… probably because she’d like to get more work later on and hopes to make Lohan her new best friend.

So good for Jessica Rose, I guess. Or bad for us. Pick whichever applies. I’m going to go rub Ben Gay on my bunions, or engage in some other activity appropriate to elderly, confused individuals. Now that’s something I can sink my teeth into.
