A Look At Arnold Schwarzenegger As Sheriff In The Last Stand
Arnold Schwarzenegger has a number of projects in the works, among which is the starring role in The Last Stand, Jee-Woon Kim's action feature. We now have a look at the movie, and what this photo lacks in background detail, it makes up for with a very determined looking Schwarzenegger, who's rocking some serious aviator sunglasses.
Joined by Forest Whitaker, Rodrigo Santoro, Johnny Knoxville and Friday Night Lights' Zach Gilford, Schwarzenegger will play the part of Sheriff Ray Owens, a former Los Angeles cop who's now serving as the local law in a border town that just so happens to be in the path of a notorious drug kingpin trying to evade the law.
USA Today has given us our first look at Schwarzenegger in his role. Check out the photo below or head on over to their site to see the full version.
It looks like he's standing in front of a truck or something. Those shades don't hide the creased brow and severe expression. Judging by the look on his face, it may take a truck (or a lot of bullets) to get past him. While it sounds like this Sheriff may have to brush the dust off his badge in order to get the job done, something tells me this kingpin won't be expecting this kind of opposition. But the vulnerable side of him will play a role, from what producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura says. "You're rooting for him more because he's more like us," di Bonaventura says. "And he gets up and keeps on going. When he needs to be Arnold, he's Arnold."
It also sounds like there may be a bit of comic relief, which could be where Johnny Knoxville comes in. The Jackass star's name is mentioned as part of the "comically inexperienced local force," who is deputized in what sounds like an act of desperation when it comes time to face off against the drug lord.
Lionsgate has The Last Stand set to release in theaters January 18, 2013.
