New Look At Leonardo DiCaprio In Django Unchained
UPDATE: Unfortunately the studio has requested we remove the image since it was apparently online illegally. Hopefully we'll be able to post it again soon!
There's been so much to read and see about Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained lately, from the first poster and trailer to, believe it or not, even more casting information-- we don't know how there's still time for Jonah Hill to join the film, but that's exactly what just happened. With the movie still in production and barreling toward a Christmas release, I'm not even sure how there's time to release more material from the film, but a new image of Leonardo DiCaprio as Calvin Candie has made it online somehow, and was posted at Nolan Forums. You can take a look at it below.
IMAGE REMOVED BY STUDIO REQUEST
That's some pipe Mr. Candie has there, befitting a character who looks to be as evil as any villain Tarantino has created. Christoph Waltz, who played the unforgettably evil Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds, gets a chance to be in hero mode this time around, teaming up with escaped slave Django (Jamie Foxx) to recover his wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), who is still in servitude to plantation owner Candie. But he's not just your average vicious slaveowner-- Candie has set up his plantation as Candie Land, where slaves are forced to fight for sport and the entertainment of others. Yes, Calvin Candie is more awful than your average slave owner-- which hopefully is why it will be so fun to see DiCaprio play him.
DiCaprio has a really huge December coming up, with both this movie and The Great Gatsby, in which he plays the titular character who also happens to be an icon of American literature. If you've been waiting for him to earn his first Oscar, this might not be a bad year to start counting on it.
