Looking Back to the Future!

By Joshua Tyler: 2005-05-27 00:00:00
Looking Back to the Future! Sometimes as a semi-professional news re-imaginer I have to report on things I don’t really care about. Da Vinci Code shooting locations for instance. Other times I see something that is so simply awesome that I can’t live with myself until I’ve shared it with all of you. It’s after midnight, I’m dead tired, and this is one of those times.

Earlier this evening I got an email from the good people at BTTF.com a Back to the Future fansite. With Back to the Future long since out of the picture, you’d expect it to be a pretty barren destination. Well it isn’t. In fact, they’ve got a line on something absolutely new in the Back to the Future world, a geek-out documentary called Looking Back at the Future.

In their words, “Looking Back at the Future is driven by the people who were involved in the films, both in front of and behind the cameras.” It’s a documentary made by people who sounds like they’re still every bit as in love with the films as me, but with a heck of a lot more skill and credibility. The piece is “a full-blown documentary on the level normally seen as a studio-produced DVD bonus feature.” But it’s no DVD bonus feature, this is the real deal. Including new and archived interviews, it tells the story not only of how the films were made, but of how they won over movie-going audiences. The trailer makes it seem like more than a stale, stuffy set of stats. There’s an electric feeling of love behind it, and just watching the advertisement got me excited about the movies themselves all over again. I can only imagine what the whole documentary will do.

Find out for yourself what I’m talking about. Click here to visit BTTF.com for more information, or use the link below to watch the full trailer for Looking Back at the Future. The film will be completed later this year, so keep checking back here at Cinema Blend for details on how you can see it.
