Of all the mysterious and unsatisfying things about the Lost finale, one was pretty easily explained: Mr. Eko, the stick-wielding mystery man played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje probably wasn't present for the final reunion because the actor was famously difficult on the set, and reportedly demanded five times the amount of money they were offering to return for the finale.

But Akinnuoye-Agbaje remains an actor in demand, and hey, maybe he's not so hostile when not filming in Hawaii. The producers of The Thing, at least, seem willing to take a chance on him. Shock Til You Drop is reporting that the actor has joined the cast of the horror prequel to play "Derek," a role given no further explanation. Shooting is already underway in Toronto with Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton in the leads.
