Lots Of Romance And New Footage In International One Day Trailer![]()
There aren't huge differences between the American trailer for the romantic comedy One Day that debuted about a month ago and the British one that popped up online today. The American one is a little more schmoopy and romantic but gets across the basic idea of this being a romantic comedy stretched across 20 years in the lives of two British people (Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess) who are meant for each other but, dammit, just don't know it yet. The British one has a British narrator, of course, and slightly more poppy music, but pretty much tells the same story.
What's remarkable, though, is that the trailer use almost entirely different footage, which makes me worry we're seeing almost the entire movie in the course of two trailers. I recently read the book One Day that the movie is based on and know that's not quite the case-- there's a lot of nuance, and a surprising amount of heartbreak, over the course of the long and emotionally fulfilling novel. And with An Education's Lone Scherfig directing, I guarantee is going to be more interesting than what you might expect out of some soppy summer romance. So if you've seen both trailers and still aren't convinced-- by anything other than Anne Hathaway's British accent, that is-- hang tight; I still have a feeling One Day could work out pretty well after all. Check out the new trailer below. The movie opens August 19 in the United States. |
