Lots Of Stars Love New York![]()
We've been seeing parapazzi shots for months of Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson behind the camera on the streets of NYC, each filming segments of the movie New York, I Love You. Made up of a series of short films, all about love in the city, the movie has already started filming, but that doesn't mean the cast can't get bigger. Like, much bigger. And filled with way more stars than you could get for a feature-length movie. When all they have to do is shoot a short film for a week, the stars flock to New York!
Variety reports that big names like Ethan Hawke, Orlando Bloom , Hayden Christensen and Juno's best friend Olivia Thirlby are all joining the project. Other names already attached include Kevin Bacon, Chris Cooper, Rachel Bilson and Robin Wright-Penn. And adding an extra level of weirdness, The Hollywood Reporter says that Shia LaBeouf and Julie Christie will star in the romantic short that was scripted by the late Anthony Minghella. Yes, 22-year-old Shia LaBeouf and and the 67-year-old Christie may or may not be falling in love. It's a city where anything can happen! The movie is based on a movie with a similar concept set in Paris, Paris je t'aime. With directors like the Coen Brothers and Alexander Payne, that one probably had a little more art house cred than this one, boasting auteur Scarlett Johansson. But still, the concept is really fun, and will probably translate well to New York, a city that inspires as many affectionate feelings as Paris does. Who knows how many more stars will sign on, though apparently Woody Allen has nothing to do with it, which is a shame. Regardless, the prospect of Shia LaBeouf and Julie Christie in a romantic relationship, with John Hurt somehow thrown into the mix, is enough to get me into the theater. |
