Machete Kills Artwork Finds Its Way Online

One of the most surprising news items of this week was that Robert Rodriguez had secured financing for Machete Kills, his sequel to the summer 2010 grindhouse feature Machete. According to the report, Rodriguez has teamed up with producer Alexander Rodnyansky and production is currently scheduled to begin in April. But if things aren't moving fast enough for you already, wait until you have a gander at this.

Coming Soon has gotten their hands on a piece of sales art that was shown during the European Film Market in Berlin this week. Fitting in with the grindhouse aesthetic, the poster is dark, gritty and covered in blood. In other words, quite awesome. Check it out below or click on it to see it full size over at its source.

Though only Danny Trejo has been announced as in talks, Kyle Ward has written the script and the new story will see Machete teaming up with the United States government to take down a dangerous cartel leader in Mexico. What makes it such a pressing matter is that the villain has gotten his hands on a satellite that promises to spread war and death across the Earth. The movie is the second part of a planned trilogy and will be followed by Machete Kills Again (presumably).
