Tobey Maguire may be softening on the idea of doing more Spider-Man movies. Till now he’s seemed pretty disinterested in having anything further to do with web slinging past Spider-Man 3, but he recently spoke to Sci-Fi Wire and sounded a little more open to the idea.

Maguire says, “It all depends on if there's a story worth telling. I feel very proud of the three movies that we've made. I feel like the stories all deserve to be told, and, you know, if they come up with a good movie, and the whole team wants to get back together, and we feel like we can make a good movie that's worth making, then I'm up for it.” I have a feeling that by “the whole team” he really means Sam Raimi. That seems to be the new position from the franchise’s stars. Kirsten Dunst recently said something similar, when she hinted that she’d be back if Sam Raimi comes back.

So everything hinges on Raimi. One problem though. Dunst and Maguire may be softening on the idea of doing a Spider-Man 4, but so far we’ve heard nothing encouraging from Raimi’s side of the equation. The film’s producer Avi Arad and the studio have already made it clear that Spider-Man 4 is happening with or without Maguire and Raimi, but Raimi so far isn’t committing one way or another.
