Public Enemies already had a stunning cast with Johnny Depp and Christian Bale playing on opposite sides of the war between the FBI and criminals like John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, and Pretty Boy Floyd. However, there’s always room for one more celebrated actor, so the project has added recent Oscar nominee Marion Cotillard to its ranks.
Michael Mann directs the Depression-era crime drama, which features Depp as Dillinger. Cotillard joins the cast as his torch singer girlfriend, Billie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Bale plays on the other side of the battle, as FBI agent Melvin Purvis, whose mission is to stop criminals like Dillinger.
Cotillard recently garnered acclaim for her performance in La Vie en Rose, winning herself an Oscar nomination. The French actress has also appeared in A Good Year alongside Russell Crowe.
