When the world finally becomes a just place everyone will know the name Mark Duplass. The actor and director has been inching his way toward pop culture ubiquity in the last few years, both through small-scale indie projects (acting in Humpday, directing Baghead and The Puffy Chair with his brother Jay) and more high-profile stuff (directing Cyrus, also with Jay, and acting in TV's The League and Noah Baumbach's Greenberg). Now it's time for Duplass to take on what could be his most-seen acting role yet, in Alex Kurtzman's directorial debut Welcome to People, a drama that already stars Chris Pine, Elizabeth Banks, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Olivia Wilde.

According to Variety he'll be playing a neighbor of Banks's character, who is a newly discovered sister to the main character played by Chris Pine. The film's action sets off when Pine's father dies, instructing him to bring $150,000 to the hidden sister. Pfeiffer will play Pine's mother, while Wilde plays his girlfriend.

In the further adventures of Mark Duplass endearing himself to America, his next directorial effort Jeff Who Lives At Home stars Jason Segel, Ed Helms, Susan Sarandon and Judy Greer, and will be released by Paramount later this year. if you don't yet know that you should be looking forward to this, do yourself a favor and check out Cyrus, a sterling example of how famous Hollywood actors can get into the indie groove through improvisational comedy and playing heartfelt, totally bizarre and unforgettable characters. Then when you see Welcome to People and are inevitably impressed by Duplass, you can realize he's a talented director to boot and hope, like I do, that he never, ever stops making movies.
