The proposed reboot of The Crow series has had its share of downs without the usual complimentary ups. First, the film’s announcement failed to ignite the sort of interest they were hoping for in the comic community, then the production lost director Stephen Norrington, and now Mark Wahlberg has confirmed that he will not be accepting the lead role of Eric Draven, as previously rumored.

Cinematical was able to sit down with the actor and ask him why he wouldn’t be stepping into the role, and apparently it just made sense for him to back away before the movie as a whole falls through.
We never committed to making the movie. They talked to me about it and there was a director attached who I was a fan of, and he's no longer doing it. We just thought about it – 'is there something cool to be done there?' But we're not committed to making the movie.

The loss of Wahlberg isn’t the end of the road for the series reboot seeing as he just doesn’t seem quite right for the role. But having a name like his involved, especially with him about to regain some popularity when The Fighter hits, would have propelled the film to levels certain other actors can’t get them to.

How about you guy? Who do you think would play a great Eric Draven? Dare I say, Michael Cera?
