Martin Scorcese Begins Production On Hugo Cabret![]()
The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznik is as much a artful, cinematic storyboard as it is an award-winning children’s novel. It tells the story of Hugo and his life lived in a Paris train station with 500+ pages and more than 200 pictures. In the story, Hugo meets a young girl and a surly shopkeeper in his quest to build an automaton his deceased father began years before. The novel is a beautiful work of art that's practically made to become a gorgeous film. We won’t have to wait too much longer. In a press release Sony announced Martin Scorcese’s 3D, live action adaptation Hugo Cabret has begun its production in London with nothing short of a complete all-star team.
Asa Butterfield (The Wolfman stars as Hugo and Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass) plays Isabelle, the young girl Hugo befriends. Ben Kinglsey (Prince of Persia) is the shopkeeper and Sacha Baron Cohen (Bruno) plays the local station inspector. This is Scorcese’s first film shot in 3-D and the screenplay was penned by John Logan, Scorcese’s scribe for The Aviator. Scorcese, Graham King, Tim Headington, and Johnny Depp are on as producers. The Invention of Hugo Cabret book has all the elements necessary for a fantastic movie, and this is clearly a team of actors, directors, writers and producers who can put together an award winning production. The film will be shot on location in London and Paris and is set for a December 2011 release. |
