Matt Damon And Ben Affleck May Play Wife-Swapping Yankees![]()
Just yesterday we told you that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were planning to set up a production company once again, with plans to support both men in their directing careers. Now Deadline Hollywood has the details on what might be their first project together, and the people of Boston are not going to be happy to hear about this one.
Strangely enough for a pair of devoted Red Sox fans, the project in mind is The Trade, about two 1970s Yankees players who caused a stir when they swapped wives. The two would star as teammates Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich, with Affleck possibly directing as well. Dave Mandel's screenplay has been in the works for years, waiting on rights clearances and other problems, but when it was finishes it made the 2009 Black List of best unproduced screenplays. Affleck's next directorial effort The Town comes out this fall, and by then we'll know if the skill he showed in Gone Baby Gone was a one-off. Even if you're skeptical about Affleck's directing skills, you've got to admit, seeing Ben and Matt playing Yankees is a pretty intriguing prospect. Think they'll stage a ceremonial burning of their pinstripe uniforms after filming? Or somehow get A-Rod involved just to belittle him? The possibilities here are endless. |
