Matthew Broderick In A Wonderful World

By Josh Tyler: 2006-09-06 00:00:00
Matthew Broderick In A Wonderful World Matthew Broderick is dumping his wife for a little chocolate sin. Some people call it "jungle fever" but isn't that a racist term? It always makes me cringe, but white people seem to use it with almost a reckless abandon. Maybe it's because I live in the south among racist pricks, or maybe they think they're taking it back. Whatever the reason, I'm not using it.

So Matthew Broderick is about to play a cynical divorcee who dates a black woman, in the new character drama Wonderful World. African American actress Sophie Okonedo will play his interracial love interest in the film Production Weekly says is being written and directed by Darkman screenwriter Joshua Goldin.

So far that's all we know about the project, so maybe there are hidden layers we haven't seen yet. As it is though, that description makes it sound like a piece of crap. Let's get over the interracial dating thing people. The sooner we stop making a big deal out of it, the sooner it will stop being a big deal. Love doesn't know color, and it's about time we caught up to it.
