Matthew Goode Enters Negotiations For Chan-Wook Park's Stoker image
Matthew Goode may have just pulled off a pretty significant coup. We've been hearing for months now about the Wentworth Miller-written drama Stoker, which already has Mia Wasikowska and Nicole Kidman attached to star, but news regarding the film's leading man has always been a bit shaky. In that time big names such as Colin Firth, James Franco, Michael Fassbender and Joel Edgerton have all been mentioned in connection with the role, but according to Variety Goode has officially entered negotiations.

In the film Wasikowska plays a young girl who, while mourning the death of her father, finds her mysterious uncle (Goode) suddenly enter her life. There has been a rumor being spread around that the project involves vampires, however, Miller - who wrote the script under the pen name Ted Foulke - has said that the movie doesn't involve fangs and blood, but rather "it is a thriller and it is about an individual who preys on the innocent." Produced by Tony and Ridley Scott, the movie is also the American debut of Chan-wook Park, who is best known for directing Oldboy and Thirst.

As much as I like all of those other actors, Goode may prove to be an amazing choice for this part. Be it playing Gary Spargo in The Lookout or Ozymandias in Watchmen, the man has proven that he can pull off mysterious and creepy. Hell, the dude killed millions of people and made you believe that it was actually the best decision that could have been made. That takes skill.
