Swedish actor and world-class creeper Max von Sydow is in talks to star in Fincher's American adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Von Sydow is being recruited to play the affluent Henrik Vanger, according to Variety.

In the original story, Vanger is responsible for enlisting journalist Mikael Blomkvist to investigate the disappearance of his niece decades earlier. Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgard is already locked in to play the critical role of Vanger's nephew Martin Vanger.

Von Sydow is lately best known as the nefarious-looking psychiatrist in Shutter Island and the generous passer-by encountered on the train by Benicio Del Toro in The Wolfman. As an actor he’s like a more sinister, elusive version of Ian McKellen and that seems an ideal choice for a serpentine adventure movie we expect to be a more sinister, elusive version of The Da Vinci Code.
