McAdams/Braff Remake Pairing Rachel McAdams (The Notebook) and Zach Braff (that guy from that show who made that really cool movie) have signed up for the remake of an Italian film. That’s the new thing, remaking foreign language films as American films, since unless the movie is about Jesus, we don’t like reading subtitles. The original Italian movie is called L’Ultimo Bacio, which loosely translated probably means Ultimate.. Bacio. The remake will be named Last Kiss,, which requires no translation, unless you speak Spanish, in which case get the heck out of here.
The movie is about a young couple grappling with an unexpected pregnancy. In the Italian version, a lot of pasta is also eaten, presumably for the American version it’ll be all about hamburgers. While I’m always happy to see two really talented people like McAdams and Braff getting more work, after Garden State I’m much more interested in seeing Braff make his own films, and McAdams… just seems too talented for a standard drama remake. Original material is in short supply. No word on when The Last Kiss starts filming, but I’m predicting later, since the guy who wrote it, Paul Haggis, is going to be busy for a couple of months begging for a Million Dollar Baby Oscar. |
