Matthew Vaughn is the biggest undiscovered talent in Hollywood. Granted, he’s already directed two movies, one of them a big-budget fantasy flick, but unfortunately none of you showed up to see either of them. He’s undiscovered by you. Go rent Stardust, right now. Or digitally download it… or whatever the kids are doing these days. If what my local news says is true, I assume it involves stealing.
So I get excited whenever I hear Matthew Vaughn is doing anything, and now I’m getting really excited because what he’s doing next is Kick-Ass. Kick-Ass is an adaptation of a Mark Millar comic about a high school nerd named Dave Lizewski, trying to turn himself into a costumed superhero. Opposing him, as the film’s villainous supervillain will be… McLovin.
HR says Superbad’s scene stealing Christopher Mintz-Plasse, aka McLovin, is in negotiations to play the movie’s bad guy, the teenage son of a mobster who calls himself the Red Mist. Already in the cast is Chloe Moretz, but the hero of Kick-Ass, Dave Lizewski has yet to be cast. Anybody know what Michael Cera is up to?
Lest you think this another Sky High rehash, the plan is to stick with the tone of Millar’s original comic and go ultra-violent and foul mouthed with this thing. The story’s hero chops up bad guys with a samurai sword… that’s going to get messy. It may be about kids but from the sounds of it, this is not a movie for kids. McLovin is going to kick ass.
