If you were wondering what movie Michael Bay would foist upon an unsuspecting public after this summer’s Transformers, your wait is over. The big budget hack director is going to make Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for his usual enabler, Jerry Bruckheimer. At least, that’s what IESB is reporting.
The film will be based on the video game. I’m not familiar with the game, but the plot is said to be about a prince and princess who work to stop a sandstorm that could destroy the world. Forget the world, I just hate when it gets in my shoe, that’s a big pain in the neck. Video game adaptations are usually the territory of the Uwe Boll’s of the world, but with Bay and Bruckheimer involved, this has the possibility of sucking on a much more expensive level.
In addition to breaking the news about Bay’s involvement, IESB busted out a release date. Well, a date implies a…date, so let’s say they busted out a release season. If all goes according to plan, you could be wasting $10 on this in Summer 2009. Let’s hope that game creator Jordan Mechner is right when he says that this will be like Pirates of the Caribbean, and not like those crummy movies directed by that one guy, Michael Bay.
