Michael Bay Pressured Into Using 3D After All?![]()
Way back in April, Michael Bay was asked outright if he would ever consider putting his Transformers movies in 3D, and had a pretty withering response: "I think it might be a gimmick."
Of course that was before Avatar showed up and didn't just start minting money, but even robbed Skids and Mudflaps of a Best Visual Effects Oscar nomination. Now Bay, apparently, is changing his tune; Variety reports, as part of a larger article on Warner Bros.' massive 3D plans, that Bay has talked with Paramount and Industrial Light and Magic about putting Transformers 3 in 3D. The biggest hurdle, apparently, is the extra time it would take to put everything in the third dimension. Transformers 3 is already set for a July 1, 2011 release date, and given that filming hasn't actually even begun yet, they're cutting things close as it is. Then again, the decision to put Clash of the Titans in 3D was made about a week ago and that movie is coming out in April. 3D is a very tricky and expensive process that they expect us to pay extra to see, but apparently it can also be done on the fly. Thanks a lot, guys. |
