Michael Bay Talks Transformers Teaser The first Transformers teaser has been on the web for several days now, but it’s still all anyone is talking about. To answer a couple of the questions it raises, director Michael Bay made a very brief post on his official blog.
The teaser features a storyline in which a shadowy Transformer attacks a Mars rover. But Bay says that it’s nothing but a teaser, and has absolutely nothing to do with the real plot of the film. “None of the Mars story, launch footage, and rover footage is going to be in the movie” he affirms. Wait a minute, then by bother to show it? Bay says he shot the footage himself, so it must have some importance right? Apparently not. Instead, think of this like the really great Spider-Man World Trade Center teaser that Raimi put out briefly before the first movie. It had absolutely nothing to do with the plot of the film, but it was an amazing attention getter and pitch perfect as an advertisement. We’re always complaining that trailers give to much away, well Bay certainly isn’t doing that with this one. If anything, he’s throwing a bit of misdirection at us and keeping his movie under wraps. It does the job of getting us excited about Transformers while spoiling absolutely nothing about the film he’s putting together. A movie by the way, which is only a couple of days into filming. |
