In recent years, Michael Caine made one of the wisest decisions available in Hollywood: he hitched his star to Christopher Nolan. Playing a role in Nolan's last four movies (number five coming in 2012 as the next Batman), his name is generally associated with quality films. But, I suppose, everyone is entitled to take a paycheck role once in a while.

THR reports that Caine is close to accepting a role in the upcoming film Journey To The Center of The Earth 2, with Dwayne Johnson and Josh Hutcherson. In the film, Caine will play Hutcherson's grandfather who joins the adventure to The Mysterious Island. According to the report, the role is quite action intensive, with Caine's character being involved in more than a few chase scenes, one including giant bees.

Sometimes you have to pay the bills and put the food on the table. Sure, playing the role of Alfred Pennyworth is going to get you a good chunk of cash, but Batman movies come few and far between. Go ahead, Mr. Caine - don't let those bees catch you.
