Michael Cera In Revolt![]()
While out making the rounds promoting his new movie Superbad, former ‘Arrested Development’ alum Michael Cera revealed what he’s doing next. According to our own Katey Rich here, he hinted around that he’s been reading a novel called Youth in Revolt and now the Hollywood Reporter confirms that Cera is doing a movie called Youth in Revolt, based on a book called “Youth in Revolt: the Journals of Nick Twisp” by C.D. Payne.
The novel is described as campy black humor used in strong portrayals of teen sexuality… which of course sent conservatives into a tizzy. It’s about a boy named Nick Twisp, smart, obsessed with girls, but completely virginal. Sounds like it’s right up Michael Cera’s alley. Actually, it sounds exactly like Superbad, minus the buddy elements. The book is the first in a series of underground novels which have become a sensation among teens, so if this does well expect to be plied with multiple sequels. Luckily, Michael Cera has one of those baby faces that should enable him to play a teenager until he’s nearly thirty. In his Superbad press conference, Cera also revealed that he’s doing a Harold Ramis directed movie, produced by Judd Apatow and co-starring Jack Black. It’s called Year One. |
