Michael Giacchino Will Score John Carter Of Mars![]()
Though Michael Giacchino has done some of his best work as a composer for Pixar, and in fact won an Oscar on Sunday for Up, he's never worked with Pixar stalwart Andrew Stanton, who used Thomas Newman as the composer for his films Finding Nemo and Wall-E. That's all about to change, but outside of Pixar's walls. Movie Score Magazine reports that Giacchino will provide the score for John Carter of Mars, which will be Stanton's live-action directorial debut.
The adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel is filming over in the U.K. right now, starring Taylor Kitsch as the Civil War veteran who finds himself on the faraway planet. Any sci-fi geek of any stripe is already ridiculously pumped about this movie, and most of us are nuts for Giacchino anyway, given that he's provided the scary vibes and emotional uplift music for Lost for the past six seasons. It's a good match all around. I just hope Thomas Newman isn't offended. |
