Michael Shannon Is After Joseph Gordon-Levitt In Premium Rush![]()
We hope Michael Shannon takes it as a compliment that everyone thinks he's so good at playing a creep. Both before and after his breakout role in 2008's Revolutionary Road, Shannon excelled at playing seemingly mild-mannered guys who could possess a whole ocean of rage and destructiveness right below the surface. His bad guys aren't always the straight-up monsters, but the quiet types who could turn around and stab you without a moment's notice.
Time to get ready to watch him do it again. THR reports that Shannon has signed on to play the villain in Premium Rush, the upcoming thriller that will star Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a bike messenger on the run from Shannon's dirty cop character. Actress Jamie Chung is also in negotiations to play the female lead, a fellow bike messenger who helps Gordon-Levitt's character escape. David Koepp, known primarily as a screenwriter on everything from Jurassic Park to Ghost Town, will be making his directorial debut on the film, which shoots in New York. Given that Shannon's last screen appearance was in the already forgotten Jonah Hex, it's definitely high time he get another chance to show off those creepy skills. |
