Patrick Swayze is in trouble. You’ve probably heard by now that he’s in a battle for his life against Pancreatic Cancer. The original report from the Enquirer said his case was terminal, and that he had only another five weeks to live. More recent reports have been less dire, and his doctors, while vague on his prognosis say they have assigned no timeline. Either way, it seems certain that Patrick is in a battle for his life.
It’s at a time like this that you start thinking about what he means to you… if anything. Everyone’s affected differently by these things. When Phil Hartman died for instance, I was depressed for a week. When Heath Ledger died, I was kind of surprised but it never really affected me more than that. It may seem silly for the death or tribulations of someone you don’t even know to affect you like that, but if you’re invested in that person’s work, well in a way you do know, at least something about them.
So that’s got me thinking about Swayze. What does he mean to you? Has his career made an impact on you, or is he just another face in the crowd? He had a mad string of big hits in the late-80s and early 90s, but since then he hasn’t exactly been culturally relevant. He was great in Donnie Darko, but now… how do you feel about Patrick Swayze? Is he still the mega-star from Ghost or is he the guy who made Black Dog? For me it’s none of that. When I think Swayze, the only thin that pops into my head is the Chippendales Dance Off bit he did with Chris Farley on SNL. I’m not sure what that says about him.

I think or Road House and Point Break. I thought he was great in Point Break. I liked Ghost as well. Most of his early work is excellent. After Point Break he fell of the radar, on purpose I hear. In Dirty Dancing he gave the big nosed chick a hard time for being a priss. I applaud that. From what we know of him he is a good guy and I hope he beats this.
GOD bless you and help you get through this terrible time in your life,,, remember the power of prayer, it works miracles . i will keep you in my prayers, God speed
~XO~
if God brings you to it , he WILL get you through it ~please believe this!
p.s we love your acting skills,, get well soon and get back out there.
I would just like to say that I hope the best for the Swayze Family. I know first hand, how a person suffers with this disease. Patrick danced great in "Dirty Dancing", oh it would have been wonderful to dance with him! I loved "Road House" that was a great movie. I didn't care for "Point Break"< he dosen't play a bad person. I have a question, how did anyone fine out that he was ill? I thought that it was a "Doctor/ patient relationship!!!!!!!!! I would love to see him around for somemore movies. God Bless him and his family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think its great that even though Swayze's star has fallen a bit and even though hios career has faltered in recent years, many people still think of him fondly. Wed love to see him get better and come back, and I hope the well wishes give him a little extra strength he needs.
I wont reminisce right now, becuase the guy is still alive, so lets not say goodbye too soon.
