Mila Kunis And Kristen Bell Get Drunk And Talk Sex In Bad Moms Red Band Trailer

Being a parent isn't easy, especially when you have to compete with those that take it to a much more competitive level. So it's only natural for a mom like Mila Kunis to snap, and take Kristen Bell along for the ride with her, as they challenge the "perfect moms" in her neighborhood. Warn the PTA, the Bad Moms are coming to town, and they've got a red band trailer to prove it!

Both a red and green Band trailer dropped on YouTube, courtesy of STX Entertainment, and Bad Moms pretty much plays out how you'd expect. After Amy (Kunis) runs afoul of the local PTA, headed by the perfectionist extraordinaire Gwendolyn (Christina Applegate,) the moms of the town faction up into two groups: the haves and the have-nots. With the big school bake sale coming up, and the pressure of every day parenting mounting, Amy and her fellow outcasts (Kristen Bell & Kathryn Hahn) swear to become Bad Moms, if only for the good of their children.

Right from the beginning, the red band trailer to Bad Moms is sold as the type of movie you'd expect from the writers of The Hangover, Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. With Mila Kunis as the stable one, Kristen Bell as the quirky one, and Kathryn Hahn as the crazy one, you've basically got a Phil/Stu/Alan triple play of characters ready to work their way through the obstacles that will be thrown their way. Just like The Hangover, one of the greatest enemies to our trio's ultimate quest looks to be the most effective weapon in the Lucas/Moore canon: alcohol. Not only are the Bad Moms looking to take down Gwendolyn and her snobby minions, but they're also looking to get down and, as the movie's ad campaign puts it, "party like a mother."

The greatest sin that Bad Moms commits, in both its red and green band trailers, is that it looks extremely familiar. The story looks like it's going to play out in the traditional arc of stressed out moms looking to cut loose, only to eventually realize that all they needed to do was play it cool and ignore the "best" moms in the neighborhood. Though, to be fair, the editing in the trailer could have something to do with the rather underwhelming punch that the film's trailers pack. Watching the red band, we could pick our four logical ending points, mashed into one package – effectively making this trailer look like the red-band equivalent of Return of the King.

Either way, we hope that there's more to Bad Moms once it hits theaters on July 29th. They're going to need it, considering that Jason Bourne is opening on that same day. But maybe there's something in the green band trailer that somehow redeems the film. We invite you to watch the general audience trailer on the next page, in order to compare which trailer sells the film the best.
