Miley Cyrus Gets To Be A Fairy Now

By Katey Rich: 2009-07-15 08:04:21
Miley Cyrus Gets To Be A Fairy Now Like it or not, Miley Cyrus is a star, and even when she leaves Hannah Montana behind for good, we'll be seeing her pinchable cheeks and country-girl smile for a long, long time. She's already in the process of starring in her very own Nicholas Sparks weepie, The Last Song, and now Disney's picked another star vehicle for their cash cow, an adaptation of the young adult novel Wings.

I know you're hoping against hope right now that it's based on the 90s TV show with Steven Weber, and... I'm sorry. Instead, according to Variety, it's about a 15-year-old who starts a new high school and has trouble fitting in-- and that's before she discovers she's a fairy! Har har!

I actually kinda like Miley Cyrus, and Disney does well with movies about girls with magical powers (hello, Enchanted!) And there's nothing wrong with a studio that's willing to let their star move on from her tween trappings. We're not in Britney Spears territory yet, but things seem to be maturing properly enough.
