I’m not going to lie. For the longest time, I thought Milla Jovovich’s name was Milla JoCOvich (pronounced yo-kuh-vich). In fact, I didn’t notice I was wrong until last week, when her new film, The Fourth Kind was released and America barely noticed. I also didn’t notice that we hadn’t heard much about her new film Winter Queen, but now that will change.
According to QuietEarth, the film is going ahead on production and is set to start filming in April. Production stalled when Jovovich got knocked up and director Paul Verhoeven decided to move on. Fyodor Bondarchuk has now signed up to take over directing duties for the flick about a young investigator who gets caught up in a conspiracy while investigating the suicide of a university student.
Fyodor Bondarchuk is known mostly for his Russian films, particularly The 9th Company. He was also a producer on Heat. It’s possible he could bring something to this film to make it stand out from the plethora of other thrillers coming out as of late, but then again, Milla hasn’t been known for turning out quality films. So it’s far more likely Winter Queen will be left in the cold by audiences.
