Mix Quentin Tarantino With George Lucas And You End Up With Jango Unchained

I suppose this had to happen eventually. Quentin Tarantino announces he’s making a spaghetti western titled Django Unchained. Star Wars nerds still lamenting the loss of their beloved bounty hunter Boba Fett decide to honor the figure’s late, great father. And so we get the mash-up poster for Jango Unchained … not coming to a theater near you any time soon.

The poster comes courtesy of AliciaRoseBane’s tumblr (via Vulture), and it plays on the stark, chain-centric design of the first Django Unchained poster. Instead of the silhouettes of Christoph Waltz and Jamie Foxx, though, we get a handcuffed Jango Fett and Mace Windu on a horse … because, if you haven’t yet seen Attack of the Clones, the purple lightsaber-wielding Jedi sends him to his grave.

As it turns out, Mace Windu himself – Samuel L. Jackson – has a role in Tarantino’s Django, which currently is filming in Louisiana with an eye on a Dec. 25 releae date. So far, we’ve seen official images of Leonardo DiCaprio’s villain, and Foxx and Waltz as bounty hunters (another irony). We’ve also seen a plot synopsis, but are waiting patiently for a trailer. Expect Tarantino to have some reel ready to show by mid-summer … perhaps in time for Comic-Con? We can hope!
