More Cast Confirmed As John Carter Of Mars Starts Filming![]()
You've been hearing casting reports on it for weeks, and you've been wondering ever since the project was announced exactly how Pixar genius Andrew Stanton would handle a live-action sci-fi movie. And now, it's finally happened-- John Carter of Mars is a reality!
Well, it's started filming at least, which means it will be a real live motion picture before too long. Disney sent out a press release today announcing the start of filming, and a whole lot of names are listed as part of the cast that I, at least, hadn't heard before. Along with lead actors like Tayor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe and Mark Strong, the cast is filled out with names like Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West and Daryl Sabara, who you'll remember either from the Spy Kids franchise or this summer's dark comedy World's Greatest Dad. So remember everything we've said before about how exciting this cast is? Yeah, double that. Below is the full press release announcing the beginning of filming in London. Given that they're doing a lot of soundstage work to start with, it may be a while before we start seeing set photos, but we'll be anxiously awaiting them all the same. BURBANK, Calif. (January 15, 2010) – Principal photography is underway in London for Walt Disney Pictures’ “JOHN CARTER OF MARS.” Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton brings this captivating hero to the big screen in a stunning adventure epic set on the wounded planet of Mars, a world inhabited by warrior tribes and exotic desert beings. Based on the first of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ “Barsoom Series,” the film chronicles the journey of Civil-War veteran John Carter, who finds himself battling a new and mysterious war amidst a host of strange Martian inhabitants. |
