More Guardians Of The Galaxy Featurettes Give Us A Closer Look At Groot And Drax The Destroyer
Earlier this afternoon we got a special close-up look at one of the strangest, most fascinating characters in James Gunn's upcoming Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy, but you didn't really think the studio would stop there, right? It looks like in addition to having the awesome new trailer that debuted earlier this week, we are also getting a series of behind the scenes featurettes that give us a closer look at the members of the titular team and the the actors who play them. Two new ones have just arrived, this time spotlighting Drax The Destroyer (played by WWE's Dave Bautista) and Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel). Check them out above and below!
While I love that we are already getting a closer look at this bizarre lineup, I must admit that I'm kind of disappointed by the Groot clip. The commentary by Diesel is cool, but the Rocket clip from earlier was filled with visual effects tests and even our first look at Rocket actually speaking with Bradley Cooper's voice. This one is pretty much just clips we already saw in the trailer. They couldn't squeeze just one "I am Groot!" in there? All the same, it's still kind of amazing that a character like Groot - who is basically a walking tree - is now going to appear in a live-action comic book movie. The genre has definitely come a long way.
So what can we expect next? Well, Gamora and Star-Lord, played by Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt respectively, are pretty obvious choices, but I'm kind of hoping that they dig in a little bit further. We've seen all of the heroes, but what about the villains? I wouldn't complain about seeing a series of 20 second videos introducing us to Lee Pace's Ronan The Accuser, Karen Gillan's Nebula and Djimon Hounsou's Korath The Pursuer.
Guardians of the Galaxy, which also stars Benicio Del Toro, Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, Michael Rooker, Gregg Henry and Peter Serafinowicz, will be in theaters on August 1st. For those of you who missed it, you can watch the first theatrical trailer for the film below (and be sure to check out our guide to everything we know so far about the movie):
