More Looking Back To The Future![]()
I was passed by a Delorean on the highway the other day. I've seen them before, but never moving. Always sitting in someone's yard rotting (not rusting) away. This one was running. Not just running, flying down the highway like a stainless steel um… time machine. They were going well over 88 miles per hour, and I waited for the inevitable fire trail. It never happened. Real life sucks.
If seeing a Delorean burning rubber down the interstate geeks you out as much as it does me, then this is the news story for you. Quite awhile ago we told you about a documentary in the works called Looking Back at the Future. It's not just a catchy name. It's a documentary about Back to the Future… all of it. Well, after months of waiting, they're finally getting the thing done. When and where can we see it? That's exactly the question I asked of the documentary's director Darold Crotzer. Here's what he had to say: "The documentary will premiere at the 25th Anniversary of the Delorean in Chicago on June 15, 2006." Does that mean it's going to show up in your local theater? No, not exactly. "We expect to have this out on DVD around the same time of it's theatrical premiere," he says. So even though it may not show up in a theater near you, you'll have no problem finding it to watch it if you really want to. What's confusing to me here is if it's basically a DVD release, why wasn't it included as part of the new, repackaged BTTF DVD set Universal is about to release (for no apparent reason)? Because Universal would rather double dip without paying for new material most likely. Save your money and spend it on Looking Back to the Future instead.
